11/30/2000 | High Maintenance Customer Policy |
---|---|
Effective January 1, 2001 the following paragraphs will be added to Simutronics Terms
and Conditions:
"In certain situations, the overall pattern of behavior on an account or a set of linked accounts may be determined to be disruptive or abusive, even if no one single act clearly violates any specific policy." "In such cases, Simutronics reserves the right to determine what patterns of behavior are defined as "high-maintenance" or "disruptive" and may take action against the account(s), ranging from a simple request to moderate/control the high-maintenance behavior, to total lockout of all linked accounts." Please direct any questions or concerns about this policy change to the GemStone III Message Boards. (Category: Discussions with Simutronics, Topic: High Maintenance Customer Policy.) |

11/19/2000 | New Lockpicking System to be Released |
Attention lockpickers! You will soon have a variety of new lockpicks which will not
only look different but will also test your ability. Look for the new lockpicks in
about a week. The specifics of the change are being discussed in the Rogue Category,
the Lockpicking Topic on the Gemstone bulletin boards, but the highlights are listed
here.
There is a more robust system of breakage weakness factors and materials. The hooks are in the new system to allow (eventually) for players to be able to repair and create their own picks. The type of lockpick allowed to be used will be regulated by your training in lockpicking. The HIGHEST quality picks will be much stronger in respect to weakness, brittleness, and breakage. Any questions? Please visit us on the Bulletin Boards. |

11/19/2000 | Banaltra and Feithidmor |
Martoo sends this information from yesterday's Lorekeepers' meeting in River's Rest:
Over the last two days we have also seen the arrival of banaltra. The appearance of the banaltra confirms our worst fears. You must all understand this...and you must tell your friends and family. If you stay within the confines of your town there is an excellent chance you will die. Banaltra are extremely dangerous. However, they are not the real threat. The presence of banaltra is only the precursor of a greater threat, the Feithidmor. Feithidmor are very ancient creatures with a most unusual life cycle. We know very few facts about them, although we are able to guess a great deal. We know they live underground. We believe they are self-reproducing. We believe each feithidmor lays a single egg, from which grows an identical reproduction of its parent. We are certain the egg lies dormant for a long, long time...possibly hundred of years. After some time...and nobody knows exactly how long it is...the egg quickens and hatches. Somehow...and we are not sure how...the hatching triggers the gathering of the banaltra. The banaltra and the feithidmor have a symbiotic relationship.I am sorry to say the feithidmor is feeding off the soft, decomposing flesh of the dead children and old people of this town. The banaltra feed off the bones left behind. The banaltra will continue to gather food for feithidmor until the creature reaches maturity. When it is fully grown the feithidmor will claw its way to the surface, preceded by swarms of banaltra." The banaltra and the feithidmor will then engage in a feeding frenzy. After feeding the feithidmor will burrow back underground, lay a single egg and die. The egg will lie dormant for a long, long time...and then it will happen all over again. My friends, this same nightmare has taken place dozens...maybe hundreds of times in the past. And yet most of us remain ignorant of the pattern. -Fiontar, LoreKeeper Much more to this unfolding story that has all matter of people moving to Icemule. It has been advised that Icemule is the only safe haven from these wretched beasts. All citizens whom remain within the other towns and cities do so at their own risks. The Banaltra have been attacking the last few days. A high pitched whining sound slowly fills your senses. A low rumbling can be heard beneath your feet, and shakes the ground slightly, causing dust to fly into the air. These and other mysterious happenings are the talk of the day. Not to mention the eminent arrival of the Jugg to Icemule. Interesting days ahead Elanthians! -Martoo |

11/16/2000 | How to Transfer Characters Between Accounts |
The customer service department provides a character transfer service for moving
characters from one Simutronics account to another. This service has a $15 fee
associated with it, per character transferred to cover the time spent investigating
the request. Investigations include verifying billing, ensuring that the transfer is
not an attempt to steal characters, as well as making any needed adjustments to the
subscriptions on the involved accounts. The fee will be applied to the receiving
account unless otherwise noted in question 8.
The Requirements - You must be a customer in good standing with Simutronics. This means: 1. You must not owe any money from unpaid subscriptions; 2. You must have valid and current billing information; 3. You must not be under lockout status or in the process of being locked out; 4. You must already have a character on the account to which the character is being transferred. To transfer a character from one Web account to another, do the following. Copy and paste the eight (8) items below into an email directed to [email protected] All eight items are required to complete the transfer process, and any request without all eight answered will be returned to the sender. 1. What is the name of the account from which the character is to be transferred? Answer: 2. What is the full name of the character to be transferred? Answer: 3. Which game product is the character played in? Answer: 4. What is the name of the account to which the character is to be transferred? Answer: 5. What is the answer to the security question for the account named in the answer to the first question? Answer: 6. What is the answer to the security question for the account named in the answer to the fourth question? Answer: 7. Does any upkeep need to be done on either account? This would include the need to add/remove extra characters slots on the accounts involved, and deletion of any temporary characters on the receiving account. Answer: 8. Do you understand that by submitting this request that the receiving account is agreeing to the $15 service fee associated with a successful transfer? Answer: Send the above information to [email protected], preferably from the e-mail address we have on file for you. You may change your e-mail address in the billing section of our Web site, and we recommend that you keep all of your personal information up to date through that method. A billing supervisor will review all billing information and will also read in-game logs for the character to be transferred. You will be notified when the transfer occurs, but if ten days go by without a change please write again to the above address. Note to Premium Home Owners: Due to technical difficulties, it is not possible to transfer characters who own Homes between accounts. We can remove the home for you if you still wish to transfer the character. |

11/16/2000 | Be Warned! |
The situation has deteriorated. Children and old people are dying. It appears their
bodies are being dragged underground. Unknown creatures are appearing in the various
towns. Clearly, something dreadful is taking place.
For some reason, the town of Icemule Trace seems to have escaped the horrors and depredations. IF YOU WANT TO BE SAFE...RELOCATE TO ICEMULE until this crisis has been resolved. Who can say what horrors will be encountered before it ends? Nothing is certain, except this: we face a grave and fearsome danger and the only safe haven is Icemule Trace. No other place in Elanthia appears to offer any protection. You have been warned...ignore the warning at your own risk. |
|
11/16/2000 | Constable Worried! Manpower Low! |
Today, the constable made the following statement, "With all of these odd events these days, it's doubtful that we have the power to effectively police the town any longer. We need to concentrate all of our forces on protecting citizens from these large critters that have started showing up. Our policing of the citizens themselves will be spotty at best I'd say." When asked to elaborate, the constable belched and began packing a large bag with clothes. | |
11/16/2000 | Something Wicked... |
Clearly, something very strange is happening in the lands. What's behind this odd,
disturbing behavior? Who or what is responsible? Is it a sickness? Can it be cured?
Is it something more...unwholesome? Can it be stopped? If so, how?
Pay attention. Think. Discuss ideas with your fellow adventurers. Present your thoughts and theories in the new forum on the message boards (SOMETHING WICKED ... in the Quest and Events folder). Most importantly...be careful. |

11/2/2000 | How Much Junk Are You Carrying? |
Out hunting and have no idea how much junk you have with you? Curious about how much effort it's going to take to drag that dead giantman? ENCUMBR to the rescue! (This verb brought to you by the Society for the Prevention of Backstrain) | |
11/2/2000 | Homes Update |
An update has been put into homes, which should improve shared commands on the same account. If players other than the home owner are having trouble using the HOME commands, entering the home once with the owning character should solve the problem. |
