3/20/2001 Soul Bonding
Local clergy have developed new guidelines and procedures to safeguard the resurrection of the recently deceased. Well of Life (spell #308) is now required by the cleric to establish a soul link with the corpse prior to casting any raise dead spells. At any point in time after the souls are linked and prior to being raised, a soul may UNLINK to sever the bond between cleric and deceased. The cleric is mandated to protect the recently resurrected for 2 minutes.

Once established, the soul link will last for approximately 15 minutes or until the corpse is raised or UNLINK is invoked. A reminder: this soul link does not negate the requirement of preserving (spell #305) the corpse!

The UNLINK verb is available for a corpse to invoke at any time once a soul link has been established.

3/5/2001 Architects & Landscapers Association of Elanthia
The Architects and Landscapers Association of Elanthia is extremely pleased to announce the opening of applications for the director team in Gemstone III Prime.

The Association is a means by which players are able to create their own areas within the game. These areas range from woods, caverns and dungeons to buildings, houses and structures. Players create rooms, inanimate objects (such as benches, trees, etc.) and portals (doors, arches, etc.). A room creator may also choose to leave bait in their area in order to encourage creatures to inhabit their new creation.

The Association will also be responsible for implementing requests from the Cooperative Houses of Elanthia as projects for full members.

This is your opportunity to make your mark on the lands. You can create areas that up until now have been only figments of your imagination!

Five positions will need to be filled: Executive Officer, Records Officer, Financial Officer, QC Officer and Training Officer.

We will be opening applications for the general membership soon after the directors are chosen. Membership in the Association requires one consecutive year of Premium membership. Visit http://alae.play.net for more information and the application. If you have questions or concerns, please visit the ALAE topic on the Gemstone III message boards.

3/5/2001 Character Manager Modifications
In two weeks we will be implementing the first of a series of Character Manager modifications. The modifications *WILL* break existing auto-rollers.

The current release will include:

  • The movement of stat and skill selection to the END of the process.
  • The implementation of new "Quick Gen" options at both the stat and skill selection stages.
After these modifications are released and we have had adequate time to determine their effects, we will likely (but NOT definitely) be implementing a new point assignment system for stats (instead of the random roll system that currently exists.) If we decide to implement a new point assignment system for stats, this will likely be implemented in the next 2-4 months. Programmers of auto-rollers may want to keep that in mind, as a point assignment system is likely to render auto-rollers obsolete.

There will be no reallocation at this time, nor is reallocation planned.
