5/29/2001 Premium Homes
Premium homes will be undergoing some transformations beginning the evening of Tuesday, May 29. The first of these changes is an auto-abandon feature. This will abandon the homes of players with canceled accounts, or those with an interruption of premium service for more than thirty days. This will result in several hundred homes becoming available for purchase. Players will NOT be compensated for the loss of their home if they return. The home and all furnishings will be irretrievable.

5/25/2001 ALAE opens applications for general membership!
The Architects and Landscapers Association of Elanthia is extremely pleased to announce the opening of applications for membership in Gemstone III Prime.

The Association is a means by which players are able to create their own areas within the game. These areas range from woods, caverns and dungeons to buildings, houses and structures. Players create rooms, inanimate objects (such as benches, trees, etc.) and portals (doors, arches, etc.). A room creator may also choose to leave bait in their area in order to encourage creatures to inhabit their new creation.

The Association will also be responsible for implementing requests from the Cooperative Houses of Elanthia as projects for full members.

This is your opportunity to make your mark on the lands. You can create areas that up until now have been only figments of your imagination!

Membership in the Association requires one consecutive year of Premium membership. Visit http://alae.play.net for more information and the application. If you have questions or concerns, please visit the ALAE topic in the Official Organizations and Societies category on the Gemstone III message boards.

5/21/2001 Soft level cap implementation
On May 31st, the day of the release of the first Elven Nations expansion and the Artisan's Guild, we will be implementing a soft level cap in GemStone III.

A level cap is a limit on the amount of experience that a player may earn. We term this cap "soft" as the cap will be increased as GemStone III becomes further developed. The cap will be set at the level at which a player can legitimately earn experience via the killing of creatures in combat (ten levels above the highest existing creature which is regularly available within the game.)

Currently, our schedule for the soft level cap includes the implementation of a cap at level 143 on May 31st. Three months later, on August 31st, the cap will be increased to level 160 with the addition of new creatures in the second Elven Nations expansion. At the current time, we have no further plans.

Players who reach the level cap after it is set will be unable to gain any experience beyond that level. Players who are above the level cap will be unable to gain any experience after the cap is set ... until the cap is raised above their current level.

The new soft level cap will only affect a very small number of you, however, we do understand that this will be of great concern to everyone. We know that it has taken a great deal of investment (in both time and money) in order to achieve these high levels. We are sorry for any inconvenience that may be caused by this regrettable necessity.

For more detailed information, read the complete level cap announcement in the GemStone III Message Boards, under the Category "Discussions with Simutronics" and the topic "Important Announcements."
