Five spells received various updates: Prayer of Protection (303 - PRAYPROT),
Cloak of Shadows (712 - SHADOWS), Melgorehn's Aura (913 - MELAURA), and Lucksong

12/19/2002 | GP3: Convert Update |
CONVERT has been modified to allow switching to another deity. If you are satisfied with your deity selection, reconfirm this choice by selecting that deity again. It is in your best interest to confirm your choice again even if you have already selected a deity. For any questions about this, please direct your inquiries to the Keepers of the Faith topic inside the Cleric category on the forums. (http://forums.play.net)
12/19/2002 | Coming in January 2003 |
In later times historians would call the year 5103 a dark year; a year fraught
with chaos and strife. It began simply enough, with the arrival of a
blue-tailed comet. For the Trolls, the comet was an augury that called forth
half-remembered prophecies and legends. The Krolvin hailed the celestial event
as a harbinger of victories to come. The Elves looked upon it with little more
than mild intellectual curiosity. To the Empress of the Turamzzyrian Empire,
beginning her tenth year on the throne, the comet was a sign of the blessing of
the gods. But to her vassal, the Baron Hochstib... it meant war.
Coming in January, 2003, GemStone III presents: "The War of Nations." http://www.play.net/forums/messages.asp?forum=30&category=6&topic=40 |

already chosen a culture. The verb TITLE will instruct you on how to make your
selection. Clan names for giants and dwarves have been updated, and Tehir is
now available as a choice for half elves.
Discussion of these changes will take place in the individual race topics in the Roleplaying category on the message boards. |

are eager to begin collecting background information for all residents. The
offices can be found on Valeria Street in Wehnimer's Landing, on Giantman Path

will also be sending a pair of staff members in each of these towns out onto the
streets to solicit information and conduct interviews with those unwilling or
unable to visit the offices.

descriptions within your age category as many times as you please. There have

12/15/2002 | Changes to Magic Items and Scrolls |
Several modifications to magic item and scroll activation have been implemented this evening. Players should find item activation more forgiving and less deadly. Several factors are considered in activating spells from items and scrolls, including character skill, spell level, and whether or not the character can or has learned the spell (or even the sphere of magic). Highly encumbered characters may also find it more difficult to activate items than if they were unburdened.
12/15/2002 | Society Amnesty |
As part of the optional reallocation, any character may choose to reset their
society affiliations once by use of the SOCIETY verb. Doing so will clear all
society status for both current and past memberships for the character, and make
it possible to join a society as a new member if desired. This can be done
regardless of the decision to reallocate.
PLEASE NOTE: If you choose to reset your society status, please be certain of your decision. You may only do it one time. Once reset, you will lose all benefits and/or powers in any society you are currently in, and the decision cannot be reversed! For further information, type SOCIETY RESET |

The wedding tent will appear along the Commons Circle just prior to the events.
12/12/2002 | Important Trap/Fine Information |
The constable, tired of running all over town, has decreed that murder charges
will no longer be issued for situations in which someone sets off a trap of
which they had no knowledge. Such cases will instead be tracked to make sure
no one is developing a pattern of deviant criminal behavior. When asked how
he could tell whether someone knew a trap was there, the constable simply
replied that his ways were both powerful and enigmatic, and that one should not
question those who can ride a horse up a tree.
He went on to say that if you have seen the trap, and set it off without fumbling, you will still be held accountable, so be careful in attempting traps you would consider to be difficult, on the off chance that you are fatally overconfident. Lastly, he noted that there is a limit as to how many you can get away with in any given month's span. |

12/9/2002 | What's in a Name? |
After thirteen years, our name database is quite full. In an effort to allow
more diversity in the choosing of a name, last names will no longer be unique.
As a result of this, it will now be possible for more than one adventurer to
have the same last name.
Aside from opening up about half of the available names in the game, this will also allow us to build systems where players will be able to take on the same last name as their family, spouses or clans. Additionally, GMs would be able to run merchants where players could choose an entirely new last name, unrelated to any name that may or may not be in the game. A more detailed post outlining the change to names can be viewed at [http://www.play.net/forums/messages.asp?forum=30&category=1&topic=1&message=222]. Discussions regarding this upcoming change will be ongoing at [http://www.play.net/forums/messages.asp?forum=30&category=2&topic=8]. We look forward to hearing your input. |

12/1/2002 | Constable Addresses Effects of Reduced Fines |
As a side effect of reduced murder fines, the venerable constable of Wehnimer's Landing was forced to cease his incessant patrols outside the town gates. When asked for a quote by a local reporter he said, "What we need is a drastic increase in taxes in order to increase our force. Without additional deputies we can't actively pursue the vagrants, varlets, thieves, thugs and other criminals." |
