8/29/2004 | H.E.R.T.'S BI-ANNUAL BALLISTA CLASS |
Troubled times seem to come when we are least prepared. Invasions come and many are left unable to lift a blade because the forces are so great. When times like these come we, as a Free Town, must bind together and fight where we can when we can.
If you find that the creatures attacking are stronger then you; if you find that your head likes to easily part from your shoulders when bad guys come into town; if you would like to lend a hand instead of running to the nearest Inn... then please come to H.E.R.T.'s Training Class. We ask that you be ready to spend 2 hours learning the inner workings of Ballista Towers. You will be taught all stages from logging to transporting, from stocking to loading, and much more. If you are a spell caster then the towers have a special place for you as well. We will teach and test what spells can be used in the towers. We will also give the fundamentals for other towers around the lands. Please bring an axe with you. Worried that the class will be too large? Worried that you'll just be another face in the crowd? Please don't be. There are many towers around Haven and we have many that are intimately aware of what is needed to use them. If need be we can split up into 3-6 groups and allow each person to have a chance to not only cut, load, and aim a tower but much more. Please join us on the 15th day of Imaerasta, at the ninth hour of the evening (est). We will gather at the North Market Southeast in Solhaven. |

8/28/2004 | ERITHIAN WEAPONSMITH |
A dwarf trudges past, a look of wonder in his eyes. In his hands he bears a shining katana and he keeps rubbing a finger over the blade, then putting the digit to his mouth to suck at the new cut. His companion looks at him stupidly and says, "Where exactly did you get that thing again?" "Thing? I think not, this is truly a weapon of wonder. I was tracking game in Whistler's Pass when I came across a reclusive warrior and after speaking to him, and running a couple errands, he offered to forge me this wonderous weapon. Amazing!" He grunts and a tear forms in his eye.
An Erithian WeaponSmith has set up shop in Whistler's Pass. He may be inclined to work on Erithi weapons for you, but you need to do something for him first. Enjoy. |

8/17/2004 | MASS INTERFERENCE (217) |
In an incident that is still not entirely understood by various local officials, a priest of Andelas visited Icemule Trace today and transformed the nature of spiritual magic. Apparently, the priest had been tracking a pregnant snow tiger for some time, and, when the tiger's presence attracted hostile attention from ice giants, he sought assistance from various adventurers. The priest convinced several locals to undergo some sort of peculiar sacrificial rite. Afterward, he experienced an intense insight related to spiritual magic. Calling upon this insight, he forced spirits of the snow to swirl around the ice giants, which confused them and prevented them from attacking properly or resisting his own attacks. He hid the tiger, presumably to give birth in safety, and then he returned to the temple to announce the success of his efforts. In a miracle of uncertain origin, the knowledge of his insight was transferred to all users of major spiritual spells.
Clerics and empaths throughout Elanthia are experimenting with their new ability. The residents of Icemule are rather worried about the whole affair, as none of them wish to trifle with full-grown snow tigers, but it will be at least a year before the cubs grow old enough to become a real concern. Those who assisted the priest seem to be recovering well enough, although they may be a bit shaken. Mass Interference (217) has been released! This spell will act like the Major Spirit spell Interference (212) save that it will affect all within range rather than affecting only a single opponent. While this spell is not player-friendly, you can avoid hitting people with it by including them in your group before you cast. |
|

We sincerely hope that those of you who are considering exploiting this bug will seriously consider the ramifications it will have on the GemStone community.
