5/31/2005 | TA'VAALOR PENNANT CHANGING CEREMONY |
---|---|
On the 3rd day of Lumnea (June), around sunset (approximately 7:30pm Elven), the Ta'Vaalor Ceremonial Guard will be holding a ceremony to change the pennants flying around Ta'Vaalor. We will start outside the gate to the Guardian Keep and proceed around town to replace each set of pennants. The entire ceremony will be held in Elven, and no translators will be provided. We will ask for a minimum of noise during the ceremony, so any translations provided by others will need to be in whispers.
If you are a Vaalor elf and interested in joining the Ta'Vaalor Ceremonial Guard, please contact [email protected] or [email protected]. |
|
5/31/2005 | CHANGE TO INCANT AND STORMFRONT COMBAT PANEL |
INCANTing a spell or casting a spell through the StormFront combat panel while a character has a different spell prepared will now result in an error message to that effect. INCANTing or casting the spell that is currently prepared will act as normal. By way of example:
If a character has no spell prepared and INCANTs or casts 401 through the StormFront combat panel, the spell will cast as normal. If a character has 401 prepared and INCANTs or casts 401 through the StormFront combat panel, the spell will be cast as normal. If a character has 401 prepared and INCANTs or casts 406 through the StormFront combat panel, an error message will result. |
|
5/31/2005 | SPIKED ARMOR & FLARING ARMOR IMPLEMENTED! |
We have implemented support for armor (torso armor, armor accessories, and shields) to be spiked and/or possess elemental flares. Using spiked armor offensively (through various combat maneuvers) results in the possibility for random puncture flares. Using a spiked armor in this fashion also adds a penalty of 10 to your chance to hit. Your existing spiked armor must be first properly prepared by a merchant before this new ability can be used in combat.
Flaring armor is divided into two types: reactive armor and non-reactive armor. Reactive armor flares randomly occur when the armor piece is struck in battle by a foe (for example, getting struck in the head while wearing a fire flaring helm). Non-reactive flares only occur when the armor piece is used offensively against a target. Shield flares and holy water flares are, by default, non-reactive. All other types of armor pieces are reactive by default. |
|
5/31/2005 | ARMOR ACCESSORY & PADDING CHANGES - REVISIONS |
In response to player concerns, we have modified our previous changes to the padding system:
Padded partial armor has been restored to allow its padding to give full protection to partially covered areas by default. If an armor accessory with the same type of padding is worn over top of either full coverage or partial armor, then only the highest level of padding will apply. For example, lightly damage padded full plate in combination with a heavily damage padded helm would result in heavy damage padding on hits to the head and light damage padding on every other type of hit. If padded armor is combined with specially enhanced armor accessories (or vice versa), then the previously announced system of averaging bonuses will continue to be used. For more details, please check the Weapons, Armor and Items - All About Armor folder of the GemStone IV Forums located at https://www.play.net/forums/messages.asp?forum=102&category=14&topic=6 |
|
5/29/2005 | ARMOR AND BLESSES |
Armor of all types will now be able to be blessed through all the currently available means of blessing (304, the Voln symbols, pure potions, and the various town quests), subject to the equivalent restrictions on blessing weapons (no padding or other special abilities). The primary purpose of this change is to allow the combat maneuvers that use armor offensively (headbutt, shield bash, etc.) to affect the undead. | |
5/29/2005 | IMPROVED COMBAT MESSAGING |
Messaging for the EBP (Evade, Block, Parry) system will now be more descriptive of exactly how an attack was evaded, blocked, or parried. This messaging will also give a better indication of how good the particular evade, block, or parry was. | |
5/29/2005 | ARMOR ACCESSORY & PADDING CHANGES |
The way that damage/crit padding works with partial armors and armor accessories has changed. Previously, the only padding that mattered was that of the torso armor, regardless of what portion of the body was struck in combat (as in, you could be wearing padded light leather, which doesn't fully cover the head, but still get the full benefit from the padding if you took a head blow). We are changing this to a per area padding system, so that when a character wearing padded partial armor gets struck in a non-fully covered area, they only get half the normal benefit of their torso armor's padding.
To help offset this loss of padding, we have implemented support for padded armor accessories (arm/leg greaves, helms, and aventails). We will be scheduling merchants to distribute padded armor accessories over the next few weeks. Mechanically, accessories that are padded only affect their coverage area (i.e. leg greaves padding only reduce damage on leg hits). The effective level of padding on a partially covered hit location is determined by averaging the padding level between the torso armor and the accessory. If an accessory is worn with full coverage armor, then the padding level is also determined by averaging. Discussion will take place in the Weapons, Armor and Items - All About Armor folder of the GemStone IV Forums located at https://www.play.net/forums/messages.asp?forum=102&category=14&topic=6 |
