2/27/2006 HIDDEN CULTURES
Have you been longing to rejoin the uncultured swine, but had your culture holding you back? Well, stay cultured no longer!

All players may now hide their culture using the SHOWCULTURE flag. If you would like to hide your culture from display to other players, simply type SET SHOWCULTURE OFF. StormFront users may also uncheck the "Display Culture" checkbox in the Advanced menu of StormFront's options.

In addition, as a result of this and the Neimhean update, the ability of all characters to choose their culture has been reset. Be sure to choose wisely, as the choice may only be made once.

2/27/2006 NEIMHEAN BLOODLINE UPDATE
Due to the treacherous actions of their former leader, Todor Neimhean, the Neimhean Bloodline is reviled by the majority of Gnomes. So thorough is the hatred of this bloodline that the members are forced to claim another bloodline as their own and live among them, never giving any indication of their true allegiance. If their true nature were ever revealed, a Neimhean would almost certainly be killed without hesitation.

Several updates have been made to the title system to better reflect the unique culture of the Neimhean Bloodline:

All current members of the Neimhean Bloodline have had their culture cleared.

The Neimhean Bloodline is now a choice that is handled specially by the title system. When a player chooses the Neimhean Bloodline, that choice will not be displayed in the customary fashion. Instead, the choice will be recorded but hidden from view, and the character will be allowed to choose another bloodline for public display. For all intents and purposes, the Neimhean will be considered a member of this bloodline as well. Note that the choice to be Neimhean must be made before the choice of another bloodline. Once a non-Neimhean bloodline is chosen, no more cultural choices of any kind may be made.

Two verbs have been updated to allow Neimhean Gnomes to identify themselves to their brethren.

Neimhean characters may now COUGH NEIMHEAN to indicate their bloodline to any other Neimhean in the room. Any non-Neimhean characters in the room will not be able to distinguish the action from a normal cough.

Neimhean may also WINK NEIMHEAN {target} to indicate their bloodline to a specific target. Non-Neimhean characters will not notice anything if they are winked at in this manner.

Suspicion runs rampant among the Neimhean, so in both cases, the signaling character will be unable to determine if their signal was received. If a Neimhean receives a signal, he may choose to ignore it to preserve his charade of being a normal member of his assumed bloodline.

2/24/2006 TIPS TO PROTECT YOUR VALUABLE ITEMS
By registering your more valuable or unique items, GameMasters have a better chance to keep track of them should they need to be replaced or fixed. Should you lose an item, it will increase the possibility of getting it returned if you REGISTER it. You should especially register anything you purchase from another player.

You can register an item by either visiting the local registrar in your town hall, or by typing REGISTER anywhere within city limits. Hold the item you wish to register in your right hand when using the command.

2/17/2006 RESIGN FROM THE CHE WITHOUT OFFICER ASSISTANCE
In the past, once a person joined one of the Cooperative Houses of Elanthia, the only way to leave the House was to be expelled by a House officer. This was often a time-consuming and embarrassing experience on all sides.

Fortunately, the CHE clerks have collectively agreed that an officer's word is no longer necessary to lift a person's name from the rolls of House membership. If you wish to leave your House, you may now do so by using the RESIGN verb when in the presence of a CHE city clerk.

Currently, you may find a city clerk in Moot Hall (Wehnimer's Landing), at the Company Store (Teras Isle), or in the Lost Home (Ta'Illistim).

The RESIGN verb is the first completed priority project from the January/February CHE automation effort. The CHE automated prize system is on its way, and the CHE raffle system will follow soon after. Look for these benefits coming to a House near you!

2/16/2006 COBBLING WAREHOUSE CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS
The manager of the cobbling warehouse on the East Ring Road of Wehnimer's Landing was seen locking the door today. "We've got a lot of renovations to do before we reopen this spring," he explained to a worried cobbler. "While the crews add a group workshop and some extra facilities, the foreman and I are going to travel to River's Rest and Cysaegir to help set up the new cobbling guilds there. We'll be back this spring, though!"

2/6/2006 NAGINATAS UPDATED
Naginatas are having their base updated. They will be losing their natural +20 attack strength bonus. Instead a +20 bonus will be added to the AvD of the weapons.

Naginatas that have been built on the naginata base will receive this update automatically. Some older weapons are modified halberds. Players will have the option to update the halberd based weapons or leave them as they are.

To see if your naginata is old style or new, INSPECT it.

2/2/2006 EMPATH SPELL [1120] SYMPATHY RELEASED!
Empaths are the masters of emotion. This mastery is not only limited to their own feelings, but can extend to others too. With the utmost dedication, a skilled Empath is able to project their thoughts outward causing those present to be overwhelmed with sympathy. Creatures that are under these effects will fight each other instead of the Empath or their group. Players will not involuntarily attack each other, like creatures, but they will not be able to perform hostile actions toward the Empath or their group.

Description of the spell and discussion may be found at: http://www.play.net/forums/messages.asp?forum=102category=26topic=15message=2197

2/2/2006 IMPERIAL NAVY INVESTIGATING INCREASED SMUGGLING TRAFFIC
The Imperial Navy has reported a significant increase in smuggling activity along the trade routes between Solhaven and River's Rest. They suspect that some individuals may be transporting illicit "merchandise," thereby avoiding tariffs, and they request that any citizen with information regarding this suspicious activity report it to the local authorities.
