7/21/2006 PLAYER HONORS
Once in awhile, the Senior staff in GemStone IV finds it neccessary to reward people for outstanding contributions to the game. In years past, we honored people through naming streets after them or rewarding them in other ways, but we felt it was necessary to make a policy regarding distribution of these honors.

Obviously, one can not look to get these honors, as it comes from selfless service, from the heart, and the desire to improve the game as a whole. We would like to honor and respect those who do that, and show them our love and respect for what they do for our game. In this regard, as a policy, when people come to our attention for their selfless sacrifice to the game, by vote of the Senior staff, they will be honored with a title and receive an award of Premium points, and there will be a ceremony held in their honor.

At this time, we honor Tsoran, Cartographer-in-Chief, as awarded by the ranger guild for his wonderous maps, which help new and old players (available at www.tsoran.com), and all the work he has put into the game for over a decade, and Xygon, Friend of Commerce, as awarded by the Merchant's Guild for his work on Playershops.com and ensuring the success of the player shop system. He, and others that follow, deserve their honors for their contributions to GemStone IV. We salute you.

7/13/2006 WHEN DID WE GET PROCRASTINATE?
Can you keep track of the hundreds of verbs available to your character? Of course not! Your mind is taken up with far more important things, like what goes with bloodstains.

We suggest something puce.

So how much would you expect to pay for a quality list of verbs? 100,000 silvers? 50,000? How about NOTHING!

That's right, as part of your GemStone IV subscription we're giving you ABSOLUTELY FREE a list of all the verbs in the game! Except for a couple that we think would just clutter up the list. And some you can't access. And maybe a couple others where we just want to mess with you. LOOK's in there, though. And ATTACK. Definitely ATTACK.

And if you act now, we'll throw in an indication of which verbs work with VERB INFO and HELP at NO EXTRA CHARGE!

Actually, we'll throw that in whenever you act. It's no skin off our back. You know, digitally speaking.

So look at VERB LIST today, before it goes out of style! See what we did there, with the reference to style in the first paragraph? Pretty good, eh? Eh?

And it was in 1998. Do try to keep up.

7/12/2006 THE OBSIDIAN TOWER TAKES OVER TERAS

7/12/2006 BEACON HALL ARCHIVE'S 'A SEAWORTHY GREETING'
The Beacon Hall Archive proudly opens its doors to the citizens and denizens of the River's Rest area for a meet-and-greet style get-together to remember! Join us on the 19th day of Koaratos at 9 chimes of the Elven bell (July 19 at 9 EDT) for a quick tour of the house followed by a sailing adventure on the House's infamous longship over the serene waters of Maelstrom Bay. Feel free to join us afterward for a relaxing evening of fishing; you never know what you might find in the bay!

7/10/2006 CHANNELING IMPROVED
Characters who channel offensive spells for greater power now have the ability to use INCANT spell instead of the more cumbersome PREPARE spell + CHANNEL target. A new flag has been established that will allow characters hunting with: Bane/Smite (302), Fervent Reproach (312), Divine Fury (317), Mana Disruption (702), Disintegrate (705), and Bone Shatter (1106) to use the INCANT command.

SF FE users: access this feature through the Options Advanced menu, or by typing SET CHANNELINCANT [on|off].

Wizard and Avalon FE users: type SET CHANNELINCANT [on|off].

As always, channeling offers more damage to these attack spells, but at the cost of actual roundtime instead of just casting time.
