1/22/2007 | HOLY RECEPTACLE (325) RECEIVES FIFTH TIER |
---|---|
This spell imbues a gem with the ability to convert another player to the Cleric's deity. Once created, the Cleric WAVEs the gem at the person they wish to convert while chanting an intercession on their behalf. That player becomes attuned to the gem. The player then needs to be given the gem so they may continue the ritual. Once the player feels they are worthy to begin making sacrifices to the deity, the player RUBs the gem. The gem will shatter and a coffer should appear, ready to accept silver offerings (via the PUT # SILVERS/COINS IN MY COFFER command). Once a sufficient (and substantial) offering has been placed within the coffer, the player should then bring the coffer to a shrine of the deity and OFFER the coffer to the deity to complete the ritual.
Players may convert to deities within the same pantheon (Liabo, Lornon and Neutral) as the deity of the Cleric if the player has two other sufficiently powerful Clerics of the same pantheon cast Holy Receptacle at the gem. Requirements: Blessing Lore 50 skill/10 ranks, Religion Lore 120 skill/30 ranks, and Gem Value >=4001. |

1/8/2007 | BUYER BEWARE |
GemStone IV operates in a "buyer beware" economy. When visiting merchant shops, use the tools provided to get an idea of what you are purchasing, namely any posted signs and the INSPECT verb. Though keep in mind, many merchant shops intend to keep an air of mystery about their wares. All shop items are sold as-is and no refunds or changes will be made, unless there is an error in how the item is constructed.
When making a purchase from another player, there are several ways everyone can protect themselves from getting scammed, such as asking to see the note or contents of a container before buying, getting a bard to LORESING, having a warrior ASSESS, casting Elemental Detection, and using one of the magic crystals (such as the one in the Abandoned Inn). In order to avoid someone running off with your money before handing over an item, use the EXCHANGE verb. All buyers are responsible for protecting themselves from dishonest dealers, so it is a good idea to check into the reputation of a seller when making a large investment of silvers. Remember, if something seems too good to be true, it most likely is! |

1/8/2007 | A SPIRITUAL AWAKENING |
For long years, worshippers have served the Arkati in privacy behind the walls of many of the Great Houses of Elanthia. Through the faith of these loyal followers, the altars of the Houses have been blessed.
Sacred spaces in the Great Houses are now valid shrines for purposes of weapon bonding and paladin spells that require a shrine. However, because the Houses are protected against intrusion, the Paladin spell Aid the Fallen (1620) cannot be anchored within House walls. |
