The hunting grounds will be separated into four divisions: those with skills enough to hunt the abandoned homestead or the skull temple or the moor or Old Ta'Faendryl. To catch a banshee you must TAP them three times in succession and HUG them twice - banshees may use all their powers and tricks to evade you! And yes, dead prey counts! 5/22/2007 | ASSUME ASPECT (650) UPDATE: ASPECT OF THE SPIDER. |
Ahndo Maeza, last seen after the events two years ago that led to the release of the Assume Aspect spell, returned this evening with Sasheto, a member of an Imaeran organization known as the Keepers of the Earth.
Recent abnormal arachnid activity allowed the group to formulate an augmentation to the spell, through intensive study and blessings from Imaera. Together, the two were able to release the fruits of the Keepers' labor, so that all could benefit from their devotional tribute. ----- The Assume Aspect spell has been updated with a new facet, the Aspect of the Spider. The aspect bestows a bonus to Climbing ranks, as well as some benefits when casting Web (118). When attempting to web an individual, the Target Defense (TD) of the target is reduced by 50, as opposed to the standard 25. When casting an area web, its duration and snare charges are both doubled. The Climbing benefits follow the same scheme as skill boosts from other aspects: base 20, +1 at 2 ranks of Spiritual Lore, Summoning to a maximum of an additional +12 at 90 ranks. The Web benefits are not modified by lore training. |

5/22/2007 | INQUISITION ARRIVES TO SOLHAVEN |
On the evening of Volnes, a pair of imperial inquisitors arrived in Solhaven, and journeyed to the bridge that made history. Baron's Bridge, the location of the assassination of Her Imperial Majesty, Empress Mynal'lyanna Anodheles, was under intense scrutiny, and all those who gathered around the inquisitors began to feel the heat of being questioned.
There are reports that several members of the crowd were detained, dragged off by guards for further questioning, only to be later released. Some of them, however, fell under heavy suspicion and received fines for various transgressions. It is even reported that one individual assaulted both of the inquisitors and found himself under the weight of several fines and jail time. The inquisitors left several hours after arrival, but made mention of further investigating needing to be done the following day. |

5/16/2007 | HOUSE OF THE ARGENT ASPIS TWELFTH ANNUAL BARDFEST |
NOTICE TO ALL PERFORMERS. Now is the time to begin rehearsing for the 12th Annual House of the Argent Aspis Bardfest, scheduled this year for Koaratos 10th, 11th, 12th, and 16th. In response to comments from judges and audiences alike, fest planners are limiting the number of spots available on the programs. They have issued a statement encouraging registration, as walk-ons are not likely to be allowed even though they have been in the past.
Head Judge Rastavan Eveninglight issued a statement reporting that mistress of the fest, Lady Dremerie Chillchaser, and Argent Master Aurien Babazhook agreed that practice and preparation were key to fine performances. Hence any performer willing to prepare in advance should register in advance. The festival committee believes the benefits of better organization and well rehearsed pieces outweigh the minor inconvenience of pre-registration. Lord Rastavan assured that registration dates would be set to accommodate participants and planners alike, and that all should stay alert for the announcement. |

5/16/2007 | HOUSE OF PAUPERS DANCE OFF! |
It isn't like you think, we promise! Throughout history, Death and Dance hardly went hand in hand. It wasn't until Paupers' newest event that we decided to combine both elements! The end result may or may not be deadly, and contestants will be judged both on their dance moves and their finishing move, which is based on the degree of injuries received. The less, the better!
Paupers' officers present will serve as judges and prizes, silvers and awards will be presented to those participating and those who win. We will have a huge black tent outside of the North Gates of Wehnimer's Landing before the event begins. Clerics and empaths will be readily available at the event location for the injured or dead. Please join us to dance until you die on Restday, the 27th of Ivastaen at 7:30pm Elven (Sunday, May 27th at 7:30pm Eastern). 5/14/2007 | CALLING ALL SCHOLARS...PART TWO! |
In reference to the knowledge symposium at the Lumnea festival, let me get the direly important official-type announcements out of the way.
These presentations, lectures, performances, etc, are for CREATIVE purposes only and will NOT be considered as OFFICIAL documentation, nor will they be added to the cannon of OFFICIAL documentation. CREATIVE, NOT OFFICIAL. Now that that's out of the way... All entrants must be of pure elven heritage, no dark elves or half-elves, puhleeze. You can choose any aspect of elven culture you like, from style of dress to religion to military. Whatever strikes your fancy. These, however, are to be academic in nature, so approach them as you would a term paper. You have a point, you have evidence/hypothesis to support the point, and you have an overall conclusion. You can USE official documentation as references for your works, but again, your works themselves will NOT be considered OFFICIAL in any way. (My sponsors will flog me if I don't use capitalization). Be creative. Dazzle us with your deep ponderings of elvish nature, society, and culture. Creativity in concert with official documentation is what I'm looking for. A lecture might be something like a commentary about the evolution of elven religion, a comparison between any facet of two or more cultures, or an examination of any given system of ethics. Presentations might include history and demonstrations of rituals, a modeling and explanation of the significance of cultural dress/ornamentation/crests/etc, or an examination of the impact of various celestial events on the aspects of daily life. Some aspect of elven culture should be involved in each presentation. These are due by June 4th and should not be dropped off at the Aies Library, but rather should be dropped in my mailbox ([email protected]). Once all the submissions are in, they ll be narrowed down to 9, and those 9 will be announced. Submissions should include your character's name, race, title of the presentation, a complete run-down of the presentation (from what will be spoken to a detailed outline of any rituals or demonstrations to be performed, and they should be IC in nature), and whether or not the event would need to take place at night (in the case of a celestial type of presentation). Submissions received after the due date will automatically be excluded. The symposium will take place on Sunday, June 24th. Any questions can be directed to the above address. Happy ponderings, ~ X. |

5/14/2007 | CALLING ALL SCHOLARS... |
Calling all scholars and leaders of academia:
At this year's Lumnea Festival, there will be a symposium on the evolution of elven culture. Entrants are limited to those of pure elven heritage. Faendryl may not enter. This is not to be mistaken as a recitation of history lessons. These compositions are to be original in nature, though it is acceptable to use published works as references. This is an exercise in and a celebration of knowledge and academics purely for their own sakes. Any aspect of elven culture you wish to explore is acceptable and submissions must be in by the 4th of Lumnea. You must include in your submission your name, given profession, the title of your presentation, and a copy of the presentation in its entirety. These performances should be no longer than fifteen minutes in length. Out of all the submissions, nine will be chosen to give their lectures at the symposium and will be judged by a council of three elven scholars. With consideration to execution, academic relevance, and creativity, the judges will select three winners. These winners will receive bound copies of their lectures, as well as a token of appreciation, which will be presented in a formal ceremony. Please drop your submission scrolls off at the Aies Library in Ta'Illistim. Regards, Ayimare Chaaniela, Scholar of House Ta'Illistim |

5/13/2007 | THE ARRIVAL TO TAMZYRR |
A restless atmosphere encompassed Tamzyrr Feastday evening with the arrival of His Excellency Earl Jovery of North Hendor and His Excellency Baron Malwind of Vornavis' entourage. A heavily armed company of imperial soldiers provided security for both the Earl and Baron upon their entry into the city, and safely escorted them with no incident to the imperial palace.
According to a speaker for His Excellency Baron Malwind, there has been no further word surrounding the disappearance of his son, The Honourable Lord Salnim Malwind. All efforts are being put into place, both by the Vornavis baronial guard and a small platoon of imperial soldiers, to search for the whereabouts of the baron's son. Word has come from the imperial inquisition stating that a small envoy of inquisitors will be traveling north sometime soon. They are expected to travel to the port of Solhaven and even further. Their travel surrounds the finalization of testimony and gathering of last bits of information regarding the incidents around the assassination of Her Imperial Majesty Empress Mynal'lyanna Anodheles. Also coming from a speaker of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Anodheles, there will be a decree coming this week regarding the Barony of Jantalar. No one can say for certain what it will be about, but it is suggested that it involves the House of Hochstib. |

5/9/2007 | DRAKES VANGUARD NIGHTLY ADVENTURES |
Each Volnes (Monday), the Drakes Vanguard will invest in its communities (Wehnimer's Landing, IceMule Trace, and Solhaven) by offering services in one or more of these cities. On some of these volunteer nights, we will provide spell and profession-based services to local citizens with no wish for tip or fee. On others, we will teach ballista, archery, and other classes. On others, we will harvest trees or otherwise act to bolster the community's defense capability. And often we offer help with Adventurer Guild tasks.
Each Tilamaires (Tuesday), the Drakes Vanguard will hold a "Peers for Peers" muster. Each muster will vary according to that night's definition of "peer". For instance, a peer might be those of similar training ranks. A peer might be those who use similar weapons or similar fighting styles. A peer might be those with similar or even dissimilar guild assignments that would complement each other if practiced together. Peer will remain that flexible so a variety of individuals can engage in a common effort to become better at whatever "peer" skill each is attempting to hone. Each Leyan (Wednesday), the Drakes Vanguard will lead the Ascendant Assault. This is a tiered hunt for those who possess any level of hunting skill. The Ascendant Assault will leave for parts unknown based upon the skills of those who choose to participate. Each Niiman (Thursday), the Drakes Vanguard will lead the Niiman Cycle. This hunt is a series of forays into hunting grounds that are best suited for a specific hunting skill. We'll start somewhere appropriate for journeymen, and then leave those to rest and continue to another hunting ground for lords and ladies. Then, we'll move on to where great lords and ladies, then high lords and ladies, and even to where grand lords and grand ladies can gain good experience. The cycle will then continue, given time, but resume the hunt from a new journeyman hunting ground and so on up the range. Each Day of the Huntress (Friday), the Drakes Vanguard will hold a Favor Saver hunt. This will be exclusively against undead creatures and geared to replenish favor for any who might need the boost. It will be held in sections as needed to prevent fear from overwhelming the less skilled adventurers. Each Feastday (Saturday), the Drakes Vanguard will hold a fun-for-all gathering with nearly any pursuit imaginable. We'll go on left-handed adventures, hold deadman races, tell jokes, recite limericks, or just practice imitating objects so we can become better morphs. We might just rampage merrily to about anywhere in the lands as well. Our sorcerers can now move a willing hunting group from one place to beyond the pale with just a little nudge. Each Restday (Sunday), the Drakes Vanguard will call its membership to muster in order to practice and develop tactics, to hone leadership skills, to relate news, and to discuss future events. All are welcome to attend and asked to conduct themselves courteously. Bring a friend! Interested? Well, we won't be hard to find if you are. Simply listen to your amulet from time to time around the area of Wehnimer's Landing. You will probably soon hear our summons to one of these frolics of fun. Each begin at 8:30 in the evening as elves keep time, and start in the Wayside Inn at one of its various tables. Check out our website at www.freewebs.com/thedrakesvanguard/index.htm |

5/8/2007 | VIOLENCE SWEEPS TURAMZZYRIAN EMPIRE |
Reports out of Tamzyrr and various capitals in baronies across the Turamzzyrian Empire write of an escalation in violence this past week. The violence erupted when someone not identified, but said to be close to the inquisition, leaked that the imperial inquisitors would find Baron Dunrith Malwind's decisions and actions surrounding the assassination of Her Imperial Majesty Empress Mynal'lyanna Anodheles suspect, and would subsequently advise Emperor Aurmont Anodheles to strip him of all privileges and sentence him to death.
The gap separating the factions that support the baron and those supporting his removal of title continues to grow wider as a result of the leaked information. Imperial soldiers have been sent to various cities and intervened in several city-wide riots in order to restore order. Back in His Excellency's barony, several groups have organized an attempt to breach the baron's castle, only to find themselves facing the baron's personal guard and baronial soldiers left to protect the castle and the baron's family. No reports of any injuries, but several arrests were made. All of Vornavis is on alert for signs of further escalation, and the neighboring city of Solhaven has also been cautioned due to it being the location of recent controversy. Baron Malwind and Earl Eddric Jovery have yet to reach Tamzyrr as increased security has been put into place, but it is said that Baron Malwind had sent a missive back north, but to whom or for what reason remains unknown. Additional rumors surrounding the inquisition have spread, suggesting a deep conspiracy between the Church of Koar and the imperial inquisitors, but so far, no proof has surfaced to substantiate the claims. |

The mystery will be unveiled at 9 pm Eastern, and those who solve it will be rewarded with prizes! | |
5/7/2007 | RIOT, EXPLOSION SHAKES VORNAVIS |
Restday, late evening, the quiet night air was torn asunder by a disruption that took place in the marketplace. A local, elderly lady by the name of Agatha the Hagatha started expressing dissent against the embattled baron, His Excellency Baron Dunrith Malwind, in the center of the market, and exchanged heated words with those loitering nearby. After several moments of arguments, the dissention started to bleed into the crowd of listening onlookers and sides began forming.
It wasn't long after that that a full-scale riot began to sweep across the streets of Solhaven. Fists were flung, feet were kicked, and chaos consumed the city. Even the smallest of the small in Solhaven took place with children grouping together to assault older citizens. It wasn't long after that the city gates to Vornavis opened and the baronial guard flooded into the streets, horns being blasted and orders being shouted, in an attempt to restore order. Several hours went by and dozens of arrests were made before finally the streets of Solhaven began to once again resemble their peaceful nature. The whereabouts of Agatha the Hagatha, however, remain unknown. It is thought that perhaps she may have been caught up in one of the arresting groups. And then, the loudest explosion rocked the streets--a dark, ominous plume of thick, black smoke rose up from somewhere within the Vornavian city. Cries filled the night air, and screams echoed through the city as the smoke continued to grow and turn even darker. Something, whether by accident or someone's hand, exploded within the protection of the Baron's castle. It took the combined effort of the citizens of Vornavis, and those from Solhaven who weren't too bruised to handle a bucket, to contain and then snuff the fires smoldering within the castle. Reports from Vornavis say that the explosion happened in the east wing of the castle, but what was in the east wing would not be said except that it contained some baronial records. However, after the fire was extinguished and the smoke began to clear, something more devastating was soon discovered--Baron Dunrith Malwind's own son was missing. The Baron's personal guard, distracted by the fire, could not account for his whereabouts, and with the baronial soldiers tied up with the riots in Solhaven, the 21-year-old vanished. No group or person has come forward with a ransom as of yet, so it is not clear if the boy was kidnapped in the distraction, or if he fled from the fire. What is clear is that this demoralizing news from the barony of Vornavis surely could not come at a worst time for his Excellency Baron Malwind. |

5/1/2007 | IMPERIAL INQUISITION |
Rumors have spread to the port of Solhaven this evening that the imperial inquisition surrounding the assassination of Empress Mynal'lyanna Anodheles, first cousin to the current Emperor Aurmont Anodheles, is about to conclude. At the core of the investigation is Baron Dunrith Malwind of Vornavis and his involvement in decisions which may have resulted in the Empress' death, and possible ties to the origination of the assassination plot. The inquisition was established by His Imperial Majesty a few years ago shortly after the incident in question happened in the town of Solhaven.
Supporters of His Excellency Baron Malwind have expressed solidarity with the embattled baron, but they have grown concerned of late by the lack of clear information out of the inquisition. Should the inquisition find the baron's actions suspect, and at fault for the assassination of the Empress, he would be stripped of all rights, titles, and privileges, and be sentenced to execution. Were this to happen, the baron's immediate family would be shamed into exile, and the seat of the barony of Vornavis would remain under the overlordship control of the Sentinel of the North, His Excellency Earl Eddric Jovery, permanently, or until such a time as a new baron could be established. Further at stake in the inquisition is the future Free Port status of Solhaven. If His Excellency Baron Malwind is found at fault and sentenced to execution, Solhaven's status would likely never be restored, even at the behest of His Excellency Earl Jovery, and full imperial control would preside over the town. As a result, the initial "imperial crackdown" that was felt immediately after the death of the Empress would be returned to full force, and felt throughout all corners of Solhaven.
