9/21/2007 THE MOST NOTABLE EXECUTIONER, PRESENTED BY THE DAE'RANDIR
The event will begin on Restday, 21 Jastatos, 5107, at 4 in the afternoon, Elven.

Location: Wehnimer's Landing, in front of the Temple.

This is a story telling event. All entrants will receive something for participation. The grand prize will be 100,000 silvers for the most provocative story. Dae'Randir members have the final say, but audience response is a prime determinant of overall score. Dae'Randir members are not permitted to compete in this event, but are encouraged to attend and help judge.

Story Parameters: Construct a story of how an assassination or execution saved the lives of innocents; preferably YOUR own actions. The best told story will be at once believable, and yet incredible. You are encouraged to have as many props as needed, including weapons used, to give your story the semblance of truth. The story telling will have a limit of 5 minutes per participant. Judging will be based upon Style, Originality, Believability, and Audience Response.

9/21/2007 THE DAE'RANDIR PRESENTS BOULDER FODDER
To be held on Restday, the 7th of Jastatos, 5107 at 4 in the afternoon, Elven.

Location: Wehnimer's Landing. Outside of town, Dueling Boulder.

Who better to decide who the ultimate Boulder fighter is than the servants of Onar? This will be a single elimination tournament. Initial fights will be based upon relative skill level. As those winners are found, the boundaries will be extended. The winner, and recipient of the champion's prize, must be able to beat all entrants. All participants will receive a memento of the day.

Rules:

1) Area attack spells will result in your disqualification. Focused attacks only.

2) At the beginning of each match, the entrants will agree whether they will fight to stun, bleeder, yield, or death. Formal "Challenge" format will be used for all matches. The final match(es) will be decided upon by the Dae'Randir representative.

3) The pronounced winner must have no less than three fights.

4) Dae'randir membership does not exclude participation, except for those acting as referees.

5) Attacking the referee will result in your immediate disqualification and execution.

6) Bring your own healer or priest. None will be provided.

Feastday, Imaerasta 22, 5107 at 9:30 in the evening, Elven.

9/21/2007 TA'VAALOR SORCERER GUILD OPENS
Rumor has it that the Sorcerer Guild for Ta'Vaalor is now open. Its exact location and means of entry, however, remain a mystery.

9/20/2007 DRAKES VANGUARD NIGHTLY ADVENTURES
Each Volnes (Monday), the Drakes Vanguard will invest in its communities (Wehnimer's Landing, IceMule Trace, and Solhaven) by offering services in one or more of these cities. On some of these volunteer nights, we will provide spell and profession-based services to local citizens with no wish for tip or fee. On others, we will teach ballista, archery, and other classes. On others, we will harvest trees or otherwise act to bolster the community's defense capability. And often we offer help with Adventurer Guild tasks.

Each Tilamaires (Tuesday), the Drakes Vanguard will hold a "Peers for Peers" muster. Each muster will vary according to that night's definition of "peer". For instance, a peer might be those of similar training ranks. A peer might be those who use similar weapons or similar fighting styles. A peer might be those with similar or even dissimilar guild assignments that would complement each other if practiced together. Peer will remain that flexible so a variety of individuals can engage in a common effort to become better at whatever "peer" skill each is attempting to hone.

Each Leyan (Wednesday), the Drakes Vanguard will lead the Ascendant Assault. This is a tiered hunt for those who possess any level of hunting skill. The Ascendant Assault will leave for parts unknown based upon the skills of those who choose to participate.

Each Niiman (Thursday), the Drakes Vanguard will lead the Niiman Cycle. This hunt is a series of forays into hunting grounds that are best suited for a specific hunting skill. We'll start somewhere appropriate for journeymen, and then leave those to rest and continue to another hunting ground for lords and ladies. Then, we'll move on to where great lords and ladies, then high lords and ladies, and even to where grand lords and grand ladies can gain good experience. The cycle will then continue, given time, but resume the hunt from a new journeyman hunting ground and so on up the range.

Each Day of the Huntress (Friday), the Drakes Vanguard will hold a Favor Saver hunt. This will be exclusively against undead creatures and geared to replenish favor for any who might need the boost. It will be held in sections as needed to prevent fear from overwhelming the less skilled adventurers.

Each Feastday (Saturday), the Drakes Vanguard will hold a fun-for-all gathering with nearly any pursuit imaginable. We'll go on left-handed adventures, hold deadman races, tell jokes, recite limericks, or just practice imitating objects so we can become better morphs. We might just rampage merrily to about anywhere in the lands as well. Our sorcerers can now move a willing hunting group from one place to beyond the pale with just a little nudge.

Each Restday (Sunday), the Drakes Vanguard will call its membership to muster in order to practice and develop tactics, to hone leadership skills, to relate news, and to discuss future events. All are welcome to attend and asked to conduct themselves courteously. Bring a friend!

Interested? Well, we won't be hard to find if you are. Simply listen to your amulet from time to time around the area of Wehnimer's Landing. You will probably soon hear our summons to one of these frolics of fun. Each begin at 8:30 in the evening as elves keep time, and start in the Wayside Inn at one of its various tables.

9/15/2007 OF ROLLING ROCKS AND GRIM GAZES.
A couple of creature maneuvers have been updated tonight, after a review of their previous effectiveness.

First, the boulder roll maneuver employed by both regular krynches and greater krynches has been modified in the following manner:

- Non-visible targets of the roll will receive a significant bonus to avoiding the maneuver.
- Critical failures will result in partial immobility, instead of the previous full immobility, and will last only as long as the roundtime induced by the failure.
- Critical failure will result in only a significant stance reduction, instead of the previous full stance reduction.
- A new tier of successful maneuver avoidance has been added, which will result in no roundtime, and will not reveal non-visible targets.
- The maneuver will no longer always be performed upon the creature's generation.
- The maneuver will now also be performed on occasion when the krynch moves from room to room.

Second, the freezing gaze attack of the various cockatrice creatures has been modified to more modern mechanics. Side effects may include dizzy spells, depression, and unconsiousness.

9/15/2007 SUPERNATURAL SIGHTINGS IN HOUSE OF PAUPERS!
Over the last week, many reports have come in about bizarre happenings within House of Paupers. Most recently an anonymous source claimed to have been visited by a ghost late one night while picking his boxes in the Commons room. The ghastly apparition appeared in the form of a bedraggled woman who kept pacing the room calling out for her child. While apparently harmless, the ghost was described as acting very irate and grew quite impatient in her search. When the source confronted the ghost, the specter seemed to snap out of her daze and appeared confused about being able to be seen. The spirit vanished before any questions could be asked.

While there are no other witnesses to this account besides the anonymous source, the Officers of Paupers are encouraging all members to be alert during the night hours on House grounds, especially if alone. Once a year the spirits of the past reclaim the House of Paupers near the Eve of the Reunion and although the ghosts have been friendly in the past, one can never be certain.

As always members are asked to report any further bizarre sightings to Paupers' Officers. The spirits of the past aren't known to frequent the House grounds this close to Eve of the Reunion.

9/13/2007 ALCHEMY RECIPE CHANGES
A large number of Alchemy recipes are scheduled to be updated at or around 12:00 Midnight EST on the night of Sunday, September the 16th, and once this update is completed, any previous recipes will no longer be recognized as valid by the system. If you have recipes that you wish to keep, and have updated, be sure to complete them and write them into your tomes before this time.

The recent updates to Alchemy training tasks have necessitated these changes. Particularly, the added requirements of using recipes related to a skill and that that recipe be considered 'tough' to count for repetitions.

We hope these updated recipes will help to ease the progression through the middling ranks of the General Alchemy skill, and the lower to middle ranks of the Alchemic Potions and Trinkets skills.

As mentioned above, previous recipes will have CEASED TO WORK as a result of these changes, and any recipes currently written in recipe books will NOT reflect these changes.

Alchemists are strongly advised to take their recipe books to any skilled master in their guild halls and ASK them to UPDATE the recipes in their books. (ASK {name} TO UPDATE) The skilled master will indicate which pages, if any, have been updated.

Please note that the skilled master will most likely indicate that he or she does not recognize recipes for most if not all DISTILL and EXTRACT recipes. This is expected. Please do NOT assist, report or post about these recipes. Newly written DISTILL and EXTRACT recipes should be properly recorded in recipe books from now on.

Please direct any questions and comments you might have to the Alchemy Discussion topic in the Magic Spells and Systems category on the official forums.

9/6/2007 THE CIRCLE OF THE GREY MOON WELCOMES ALL LORNONITES!
The Circle of the Grey Moon, formerly an order of Queen Eorgina worshippers, has expanded. We are now home to a different, unique Order for each of the Lornon Arkati.

Please join us on the 16th day of Imaerasta in Solhaven to celebrate this event, and to hear from our Order Chairs. We will have a tent for our use, located in Lornon Court, and we will begin at 9:00 ET!

9/6/2007 ALCHEMY TRAINING TASK CHANGES
The stress/cauldron tasks have been changed to follow the standard item creation process and require solutions to be created. Repetitions will be awarded upon a successful sealing of a solution that uses the correct subskill (simmer, boil, etc.) indicated by the task assignment. CHANT stress/cauldrong tasks will also require the chanting of a spell of equal or greater in level than your ranks in the skill being trained divided by four.

The various tasks that require creating items will now require that a recipe from the skill being trained be used to gain repetitions.

All skilled master, practice (create an item using simmer, etc.) and stress/cauldron tasks will now require that 'tough' recipes be used to gain repetitions.

The equipment cleaning and lens polishing tasks have been altered to function similarly to the window cleaning tasks in the Warrior and Rogue guilds. These tasks, now 'crucible cleaning' and 'lens assembly polishing' respectively, require players to clean and polish the equipment already present in the guild workshops. Each piece of equipment will only be able to be cleaned by a particular player once before the player must wait for it to become 'dirty' again.

A fifteen minute wait period has been added to the ingredient gathering task for those who turn in 'incomplete' lists. An 'incomplete' turning is one that leaves a player with repetitions remaining for the task.

These changes have been implemented to bring the rate of progress through the ranks of Alchemy in line with those of other guilds.

We will start outside the gate to the Guardian Keep and proceed around town to replace each set of pennants. The entire ceremony will be held in elven, and no translators will be provided. We will ask for a minimum of noise during the ceremony, so any translations provided by others will need to be in whispers.

If you are a Vaalor elf and interested in joining the Ta'Vaalor Ceremonial Guard, please contact Byblis or Quidriel.
