The first thing to do is look on the
Global Map to
see how all the maps connect. If we use Darkstone Castle as an example, you will
see that the
Darkstone Castle map
connects to the
Outside the Gates map.
Looking at the
Outside the Gates map,
on the left side, will show you that the path to Darkstone Castle is out
by the kobolds and Velnalins, near Kai's Shrine.
Make sure you have the most up to date version of the maps. Also, make sure you have
the most recent version of the map
from my website.
Other web sites that have copies of my maps may have older versions. (Yes, this
includes the maps on Simutronics 'Starter Maps' page too.) For example, the
Pinefar map
connects to the Icemule
East-West-North Gates map.
If you look
at an old version of the East-West-North Gates map, it won't have the connection to the Pinefar map.
Since there's at least one web site I know of that has the Pinefar map, but
also has an old version of the East-West-North Gates map which does not
contain the link to Pinefar, this can lead to some confusion.
Age is not particularly relevant here. You can't get into Thingol Manor
regardless of age. This was the site of a quest quite a ways back, and is not
currently open to the public.
Black Swan Castle is the site of another quest. Unlike Thingol Manor, however,
this quest has been run recently. Hopefully it will be run again, sometime
soon; I had a lot of fun when I was in there. You won't be able to get into the quest
portion of the castle unless the quest is being run. However, you can always go and
drown in the moat, whether the quest is running or not. :)
Melgorehn's Reach is a game puzzle, and I would be giving away too much of it
by mapping it. The location of the Reach is on the map, but none of the detail
of what is inside. You'll just have to go find out for yourself. Enjoy!
The purpose of the maps is primarily to be a guide to the hunting areas. I've
intentionally not mapped the insides of the buildings inside the towns. Got to leave
some exploring to you'all. :)
I'm not an employee of Simutronics, and I don't have any inside information
about when something is going to happen. Besides, the definitive answer
to questions like this is usually "when it's ready."
Nope, I'm a cleric through and through. Besides, rangers are always getting
lost. Who would want to trust their lives to a map made by someone who is
lost? From a historical perspective, clerics have always done 'clerical'
work, such as transcribing manuscripts and such. Map making is therefore
entirely in character for a cleric, especially one who has traveled the lands
freeing the tortured souls of countless undead.
That particular monk had best poke his head out more often. Stonehold is
the ICE-age name for what is now called
Cavernhold. It's been 7 years or so
since the name changed.
There are a few shrines which are directly related to some game puzzles,
including some of the puzzles associated with one society or another. That's
the reason some of the shrines, or the names of those shrines, are absent
from the maps. In other cases, it could be that I simply didn't know about
it before.
Well, the answer to this question varies over time, of course. To see how
old Tsoran is now, use the "fame cleric n" command inside
GemStone, where 'n' is 1 through 5.
